DURHAM, NH. – Virginia "Ginny" Theo-Steelman '62, '69G and David Steelman '67, '70G received the UNH athletics donor of the game award, presented by Geico, during Saturday night's football game against Bryant University at Wildcat Stadium.
The Steelmans both received undergraduate and graduate degrees from UNH - Ginny with a bachelor's degree in social work and a master's in counseling. David with a bachelor's and master's degree in history. They have remained committed to supporting students through three scholarship funds, the Theo-Steelman Public Service Fellowship (est. in 2000), the Steelman History Fellowship (est. in 2008) and the David C. Steelman '67, '70G & Virginia Theo-Steelman '62, '69G Athletic Scholarship (est. in 2011).
Ginny and David continue to take an exceptionally active interest in the recipients of their three scholarship funds and have stayed in touch with many of the students that have benefitted from their support, long after they've left UNH.
Theo-Steelman and Steelman are devoted Wildcats and can be found in the classroom, at the Whittemore Center and at Wildcat Stadium cheering for their 'Cats!
And when Ginny and David hear someone say "It's a great day to be a Wildcat" they will always be the first to reply with great enthusiasm that "Every day is a great day to be a Wildcat!" "UNH is very important to both of us," they both reiterated.
Ginny and David were awarded the University of New Hampshire Foundation's 2009 Hubbard Family Award for Service to Philanthropy. The Hubbard Family Award for Service to Philanthropy is the highest honor bestowed by the UNH Foundation and recognizes outstanding individuals whose philanthropic leadership has significantly strengthened the State of New Hampshire, its communities, and the University.
UNH Athletics thanks Ginny and David, as well as all donors to UNH athletics, for their loyalty and support of the Wildcats.
