Orso Hired as UNH Associate AD for Marketing, Sievers named Digital Media Manager
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire athletic department announced Monday the hiring of Kim Orso as the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions as well as Taylor Sievers being named Digital Media Manager.
As the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions, Orso's primary focus will be to lead the strategy for an aggressive effort to increase UNH Athletics brand awareness, drive game day attendance, and enhance the experience of attending Wildcat athletic events.
Sievers, as the Digital Media Manager, will enhance UNH athletics' engagement with fans via numerous social media platforms and its website. Sievers has been working in the athletic communications office for two years.
The additions of Orso and Sievers are part of a restructuring of UNH Athletics' external organization that will define, energize and enrich the UNH game experience for Wildcat fans.
"Our search committee was very diligent and patient, interviewing candidates from around the country, before making a match with Kim," said Jon Danos, UNH Senior Associate Director for External Affairs. "Kim brings a very unique set of experiences to our organization that will make us better – which means she possesses the creativity and strategic thinking skills, among many others, needed to create more value for our students and fans. We're really fortunate to have her, and Taylor, on our team – especially at such an important time for UNH athletics."
"I'm thrilled to be joining Wildcat Nation and look forward to contributing to UNH's tradition of excellence," Orso said. "It's an exciting time for UNH athletics. The dedicated coaches and student-athletes, along with the loyal fans, all play a huge role in the success of the marketing efforts. It's great to be working with the UNH community and exploring new ways to bring excitement to the game."
Orso is a seasoned marketing professional who has spent more than two decades on the New Hampshire seacoast executing various aspects of strategic marketing plans, including account planning, media relations, speaking opportunities, collateral development, writing and copyediting.
Most recently, Orso served as a category launch manager at Performance Sports Group in Exeter, N.H. While there, she developed strategic product launch plans for a leading brand in the baseball and softball market.
Prior to that, Orso spent nearly 13 years at an esteemed public relations firm, Beaupre & Co. Public Relations (Portsmouth, N.H.), now Brodeur Partners. She started as an account coordinator before making the transition to director of Speakers Bureau, which secured more than 1,000 speaking engagements for technology and Fortune 500 clients enabling them to become more visible among peers, potential customers, media, industry analysts and the financial community.
Orso earned a bachelor of arts degree in Education at Colgate University in 1993. She was a four-year letterwinner on the Raiders' softball team and was team captain in 1993, when she was named to the All-Patriot League Team as well as the Patriot League Academic Achievement Honor Roll.
Sievers is a 2015 UNH graduate who earned a bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology: Sport Studies with a minor in Business Administration. Immediately upon graduation, he was hired as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. In that role, he was the media liaison for the UNH men's basketball and women's soccer teams, as well as men's and women's cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field.
