STUDENT-ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT
Brianna Boden, women's indoor track & field
Brianna, a senior from Keene, N.H., raced to fifth place out of 24 athletes in the 5,000-meter run at the ECAC Championships on March 5 at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center. Her finish helped the UNH women's indoor track & field team finish eighth out of 44 teams competing in the event.
Brianna crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 16 minutes, 43.97 seconds. She also established personal bests in both the mile and 3,000m this season.
Brianna helped UNH earn second place at the America East Championships with a fifth-place effort in the 3,000m with a personal-best time of 9:52.55. That bested her previous best mark of 9:57.30 established one week earlier.
This past fall, Brianna placed seventh at the America East Championships to earn a spot on the All-Conference First Team and help lead UNH to a third consecutive conference title.
In the 2015 outdoor track & field season, Brianna was runner-up in the 5,000m at the America East meet and went on to earn seventh place in the 10K at the ECACs. One season earlier – the 2015 indoor season – she placed 12th at the America East Championships and eighth at New Englands in the 5K.
Brianna's collegiate accolades include America East Commissioner's Honor Roll (2014), America East All-Academic Team (2015 cross country) and induction into the National College Athletic Honor Society, Chi Alpha sigma (2015).
Daniel Dion, men's basketball
Daniel, a junior from Cedar Park, Texas, matched his career high by scoring a team-high 23 points to lift the UNH men's basketball team to a 56-51 victory against Binghamton University in an America East quarterfinal game March 2 at Lundholm Gym.
The 6-foot-0, 175-pound guard netted 23 points on 6 of 14 shooting from the floor, including four 3-pointers, and 7-for-7 from the foul line. One of Dion's 3-pointers gave UNH its first lead of the game, 16-14, with 8:40 remaining in the first half. Another trey gave the Wildcats their largest lead of the half, 27-21.
Daniel ended the first half with 11 points. He played the entire second half and recorded 12 points and three rebounds. Daniel helped seal the victory by hitting two free throws with 1:03 remaining to give the 'Cats a 54-48 lead.
In 26 games, Daniel is averaging 9.0 points per game. He leads the team in 3-pointers made (38) and attempted (133), and his .892 free throw percentage (58 of 65) ranks second.
Daniel scored 20+ points one other game this season, and that was when he scored 20 in the regular-season finale at UMBC. He also make six field goals and four 3-pointers in that game, where he was also perfect from the foul line (4 of 4). Back on Jan. 21, he made a turnaround 3-pointer off an inbounds pass to give UNH a 78-76 lead – and win – at UMass Lowell; that play was featured on ESPN's SportsCenter as a Top 10 Play of the Day.
Last year as a sophomore, Daniel saw action in 31 games with 15 starts and he ranked fifth in scoring at 9.2 ppg. He recorded back-to-back 23-point performances against Boston University and Dartmouth College. In the 2013-14 season as a freshman, Daniel played in 26 games with 11 starts and averaged 8.2 ppg with a season high of 20 at UMass Lowell.
2016 WOMEN'S FROZEN FOUR COMES TO UNH'S WHITTEMORE CENTER
The NCAA Women's Frozen Four is coming back to Durham! UNH's Whittemore Center was the site of the national championship in 2002 and 2005 and it will be again in March 2016.
Tickets are on sale now for the NCAA 2016 Women's Frozen Four that will be played at the Whitt on March 18 & 20. The all-session package includes a ticket to both the March 18 semifinal games (single admission; 4/7 pm) and the March 20 championship game (2 pm).
Each all-session chairback seat costs $35. There is also a bench seat option at $25 for adults and $20 for students, seniors and youths. Groups of 20 or more can purchase an all-session package at $15 per seat, regardless of section.

UNH LAUNCHES 2016 FOOTBALL STADIUM TICKET CAMPAIGN
The UNH department of athletics has launched of a marketing campaign aimed at establishing a priority system for seat selection at the under-construction Wildcat Stadium for the 2016 season.
The campaign will enable fans to reserve season tickets in the state-of-the-art stadium. For a $25 deposit per seat, fans will receive a seat selection priority number in the order in which their reservation is made. The deposit is completely refundable and nonbinding.
Current season ticket holders for 2015 football do not need to make a seat deposit at this time; they will be given seat selection priority over the general public. The seat selection process for season ticket holders will be announced at a later date.
Details of season ticket packages, including amenities and privileges, will be announced this winter, at which time fans can select their ticket package preference. A "Select A Seat" event in which fans pick their actual seat location in the new stadium will be announced at a later time.
Fans can secure a priority number by clicking HERE or by mailing seat reservation deposits to Whittemore Center Arena Box Office, 128 Main Street, Durham, NH 03824.

MEN'S BASKETBALL (19-11 overall, 11-5 America East)
- The UNH men's basketball team defeated Binghamton University, 56-51, in an America East quarterfinal game March 2 at Lundholm Gym, which was packed with 1,866 fans in attendance.
- With that win, the fourth-seeded Wildcats advanced to the semifinals for the second consecutive year. New Hampshire plays at third-seeded Vermont on March 7 (7:30 p.m.); the game will be on ESPN3.
- Junior guard Daniel Dion (Cedar Park, Texas) recorded his second-straight 20+-point game with 23 points, matching a career high.
- Sophomore Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) tallied his fifth double-double of the season, third in the last five games, with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
- UNH recorded 13 offensive rebounds to Binghamton's two while shooting 82.6 percent (19 of 23) from the free-throw line.
- Prior to the start of the conference tournament, America East announced its All-Conference teams. Leissner was named to the First Team while Jaleen Smith (Freeport, Texas) was voted to the Second Team.
- The winner of Monday's semifinal advances to the title game March 12 (11 a.m. at the site of the higher seed).

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (12-18 overall, 6-10 America East)
- The UNH women's basketball team was ousted from the America East tournament with a 58-47 loss to the University of Maine in a March 5 quarterfinal game at Binghamton University's Events Center.
- Elizabeth Belanger (Acton, Mass.) was named to the America East All-Conference First Team and Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) was an all-Rookie Team selection.
- Belanger scored 20+ points for the third consecutive game and 12th time this season with a team-high 23 in her last collegiate game. She finishes her career ranked No. 5 on UNH's scoring list with 1,453 points, as well as No. 7 in rebounding with 703. Belanger is one of three Wildcats in program history to record 1,400 points and 700 rebounds.
- Belanger ended her senior season with 513 points, which is the eighth highest single-season in program history.
- Sophomore center Carlie Pogue (Cincinnati, Ohio) joined Belanger in double digit scoring with 11 points and pulled down six rebounds.
- UNH pulled to within 51-47 when Belanger banked in a jumper with 1:11 to play, but Maine pulled away by making its free throws.

GYMNASTICS (11-7 overall)
- The UNH gymnastics team, with a score of 193.825, was defeated by both host Utah State University (196.025) and Brigham Young University (195.550) on March 4.
- Jennifer King (Freehold, N.J.) matched a career high on the uneven bars with a team-high 9.850 that earned a share of fourth place. King is ranked fourth in the EAGL conference in bars with an RQS of 9.830.
- Erin Carroll (Kingston, N.H.) recorded a personal-best 9.825 for second place on vault.
- Danielle Doolin (Medford Lakes, N.J.) placed second in the all-around with a four-event score of 38.925. She is ranked seventh in EAGL in the all-around with a 38.960 RQS, and is fifth in floor exercise at 9.845.
- The UNH gymnastics team returns to action March 12 (7 p.m. Eastern) at Texas Woman's University. Louisiana State University and Oregon State University will also be competing vs. the Wildcats.

MEN'S ICE HOCKEY (11-20-6 overall, 4-12-6 Hockey East)
- The UNH men's ice hockey team prevailed 3-1 in Game 1 of the best-of-three Hockey East first round against Merrimack College, but the Warriors rallied to win the series with a 3-2 overtime victory and 2-1 win in the decisive third game. All three games were played at Merrimack's Lawler Rink.
- Sophomore goaltender Danny Tirone (Trumbull, Conn.) was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week after making 132 saves on 138 shots faced for a .957 save percentage. He made 45 saves in Thursday's 3-1 win, 47 saves in Friday's overtime loss, and 40 in Sunday's heartbreaking 2-1 loss.
- Junior Tyler Kelleher (Longmeadow, Mass.) tallied three points on the weekend with two goals and an assist.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE (2-4, 0-0 America East)
- The UNH women's lacrosse team went 1-1 last week – both games were at Cowell Stadium – with a 16-6 win against College of the Holy Cross (March 2) and a 16-6 loss to Fairfield University (March 5).
- Nicole Grote (Ellicott City, Md.) recorded a career-high eight points by matching her personal bests in both goals (four) and assists (four) vs. Holy Cross. The eight points marked the highest total by a Wildcat since April 6, 2013, when Laura McHoul tallied nine points (two goals, seven assists).
- Grote's first goal marked her 75th career point and her second goal was the 50th of her career.
- Kate Clancy (Barrington, R.I.) made a career-high 13 saves against Fairfield. She recorded 12 saves twice earlier this season and twice last year.
- McHoul and Catherine Sexton (Niskayuna, N.Y.) both finished with four points vs. Holy Cross. McHoul tallied three goals and an assist while Sexton had two goals and two assists.
- McHoul extended her point streak to six games with one goal vs. Fairfield. Carly Wooters (White Plains, N.Y.) also scored one goal against the Stags to extend her goal streak to six games.
- Devan Miller (Bristol, R.I.) recorded 10 draw controls against Holy Cross. It's the highest total by a Wildcat since March 28, 2009, when Allie Duclos had 11.
- With five points last week, McHoul climbed into a tie for No. 7 on UNH's career points list with Liz Brickley at 179. McHoul has 72 goals and a school-record 107 assists.
- The UNH women's lacrosse team returns to action March 12 (1 p.m.) at Harvard University. The Wildcats' next home game is March 26 (12 p.m.) for the America East conference opener against UMass Lowell.

SKIING
- Eleven members of the University of New Hampshire ski program have been selected to participate in the 2016 National Collegiate Men's and Women's Skiing Championships, which will be held March 9-12 at Mt. Werner and Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs, Colo.
- The alpine team, under the direction of ninth-year head coach Brian Blank, will send the maximum number of six participants from that discipline. Five skiers –three men and two women—will compete for 34th-year Nordic coach and UNH ski coordinator Cory Schwartz.
- Randa Teschner (Petawara, Ontario) is advancing to the NCAA Championships for the fourth time in as many years. The All-East Second Team honoree is ranked 10th in the slalom and 12th in the giant slalom for No. 9 overall in the EISA.
- Eirik Fosnaes (Hovik, Norway) will also be competing at the NCAAs for the fourth consecutive year. In the Nordic events, he is ranked 12th in classic and 15th in freestyle for No. 12 overall out of the East.
- Jay Ogle (Pittsfield, Mass.) will compete at the NCAAs for the third consecutive year. He is ranked 18th in GS and 19th in SL to rank 18th overall in the EISA.
- Lisa Wedsjö (Saltsjöbaden, Sweden) is competing at the NCAAs for the second straight year. The 2016 All-East First Team honoree is ranked third in the GS and ninth in the SL for No. 5 overall in the EISA. At last year's NCAAs, she raced to sixth place in the giant slalom to earn All-America Second Team status.
- Bryan Cookson (Vernon, British Columbia) is a first-time NCAA qualifier who is ranked 14th on GS and 17th in SL for 14th overall in EISA.
- Chris Steinke (Ottawa, Ontario) is another first-time NCAA qualifier. He ranked 13th in SL and 20th in GS for No. 15 overall in the EISA.
- Geneviève Frigon (Laval, Quebec) is the lone Wildcat freshman to qualify for the NCAAs. She is 11th in the SL and 24th in GS for No. 17 overall in the EISA.
- Peter Holmes (Tahoe City, Calif.) is making his first NCAA appearance. The All-East Second Team honoree is ranked sixth in classic and 11th in freestyle for No. 7 overall out of the East.
- Raleigh Goessling (Esko, Minn.) is making his second straight trip to the NCAAs. He is 10th in classic and 16th in free for No. 10 overall in the EISA.

MEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
- The UNH men's indoor track & field team finished 22nd overall with 12 points out of 43 participating programs at the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America Championships at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center.
- Junior Michael Shanahan (Dover, N.H.) placed first overall in the weight throw with a toss of 67 feet, 11.75 inches. Shanahan has now won the IC4A weight throw in back-to-back seasons.
- The distance medley relay group of freshman Brett Hoerner (Manchester, N.H.), junior Drew Piazza (Danvers, Mass.), freshman William Ulrich (Mineola, N.Y.) and senior Brendan McCarthy (Mansfield, Mass.) placed seventh out of 24 teams on the final day with a time of 10 minutes, 03.72 seconds.
- Junior Drew Piazza (Danvers, Mass.) will race in the 800-meter run at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala next weekend.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
- The UNH women's indoor track & field team placed eighth overall with 29 points out of44 participating programs at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center.
- The distance medley relay team of freshman Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.), sophomore Danielle Gajewski (Danville, N.H.), junior Alyson Messina (Plymouth, Mass.) and classmate Amanda Szymanski (Londonderry, N.H.) placed first overall with a time of 11 minutes, 32.39 seconds.
- Senior Laura Rose Donegan (Melbourne, Australia) placed second overall in the 3,000-meter run, breaking a school record with a time of 9:26.72. Donegan broke the previous 3K school record, set earlier this season by sophomore Elinor Purrier (Montgomery, Vt.), by just under three seconds. Donegan now holds two indoor school records.
- Senior Brianna Boden (Keene, N.H.) placed fifth in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 16:43.97, a new personal record.
- Senior Amber Short (Keene, N.H.) also had a top-10 finish in the 5K with a ninth place time of 16:50.72.
- Sophomore Elinor Purrier (Montgomery, Vt.) will race in the mile run at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala. next weekend.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
- The UNH men's cross country team ended the 2015 season with a 30th-place finish at the NCAA Regional Championships held Nov. 13 at Franklin Park (Boston, Mass.).
- Sophomore Ryan Chiesa (Stockholm, N.J.) placed 118th in the 10K race with a time of 32 minutes, 52 seconds followed by junior Mitchell Dutton (Salem, N.H.) who collected 143rd place in 33:10.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
- Senior Laura Rose Donegan (Melbourne, Australia) earned All-America honors at the NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Championships on Nov. 20 with a 30th place finish in 20 minutes, 20.9 seconds in the 6K race. She also received the Elite 90 award for the highest grade point average of all the athletes at the NCAA Championships.
- Last year, Donegan earned her first All-America recognition at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships when she placed 10th in the 3K steeplechase.
- The Australian native holds a 4.0 GPA while studying political science. She was named the America East Cross Country Elite 18 winner at the conference championships (Oct. 31). She collected the same award at the 2015 America East Indoor Championships as well, for the highest GPA of the top finishers.
- The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships. Donegan is the second UNH athlete to secure the honor, after Liz Guiney of women's skiing earned the award during the 2012-13 athletic season. There are 340+ cross country-sponsored programs by the NCAA at the Division I level.

FIELD HOCKEY (8-11 overall, 4-4 America East)
- The UNH field hockey team was defeated 2-1 by University of the Pacific in an America East quarterfinal game at the University at Albany on Nov. 6. The Wildcats recorded a sizable advantage in both shots (27-7) and penalty corners (13-5).
- Prior to the start of the tournament, junior midfielder Lindsey Nerbonne (Bow, N.H.) and sophomore midfielder Gianna Bensaia (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) were named to the All-Conference First Team. Freshman forward Katie Audino (Severn, Md.) was an All-Rookie Team selection. Senior forward Meg Carroll (Mansfield, Mass.) and senior back Chandler Giese (Trappe, Pa.) were voted to the All-Academic Team.
- At the conclusion of the tournament, senior forward Meg Flatley (Townsend, Mass.) was named to the All-Championship Team.
- Flatley extended her goal streak to three games by scoring her 10th goal of the season and 52nd career goal when she gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at 23:07. That goal moved her into a tie for third on the program's career leaderboard with Hayley Rausch (2008-11). Flatley also climbed into No. 4 with 120 career points; that spot was previously held by Gaby Haroules (1977-80; 119 points).
- Nerbonne finished the season as the team leader in goals (12), game-winning goals (three), points (26) and shots (85).
- The end of the 2015 season marked the end of careers for Carroll, Flatley and Giese as well as classmates Emma Compagna (Canton, Mass.), Lynne Lehman (Landisburg, Pa.) and Taylor Rideout (Barrington, R.I.).

FOOTBALL (7-5 overall, 5-3 CAA)
- The UNH football team's impressive fourth-quarter comeback fell short in a 27-20 loss to Colgate University in an NCAA FCS first round game at Cowell Stadium on Nov. 28. The Wildcats have advanced to the NCAA postseason 12 consecutive years, which is the longest active streak in the nation.
- Junior defensive back Casey DeAndrade (East Bridgewater, Mass.), senior offensive lineman Austin Heter (McKees Rocks, Pa.) and junior tight end Jordan Powell (Forked River, N.J.) were named to the 2015 Division I All-New England Team by the New England Football Writers' Association.
- DeAndrade was named to the All-CAA Football First Team as both a cornerback and punt returner for the second consecutive year.
- Powell was also a First Team selection, while Heter was voted to the Second Team.
- Junior running back Dalton Crossan (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) received two accolades. He was named to the Third Team as a running back and kickoff returner.
- Senior captains Akil Anderson (Morristown, N.J.) and Jullian Turner (East Pittsburgh, Pa.) were Third Team honorees.
- Senior quarterback and captain Sean Goldrich (West Haven, Conn.) finished with career numbers of 654 completions on 1,068 attempts for 7,536 yards. On UNH's all-time leaderboard, those numbers rank No. 3 in completions, No. 5 in attempts and No. 5 in yards.

WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY (11-24-1 overall, 8-16-0 Hockey East)
- The fifth-seeded UNH women's ice hockey team was swept out of the Hockey East best-of-three quarterfinals with a pair of one-goal losses at No. 4 UConn. The Huskies held on 3-2 on Friday (Feb. 26) and rallied for a 4-3 triple overtime win Saturday.
- Junior forward Jonna Curtis (Elk River, Minn.) was named a Hockey East Honorable Mention selection; she received the same accolade last season.
- Curtis skated in all 36 games and led the Wildcats in goals (16), assists (17) and points (33), as well as shots (171). With those stats, she ranked fourth in Hockey East in shots and 10th in goals. In 24 league games, Curtis tallied 23 points on 10 goals and 13 assists, all of which once again marked team highs.
- Senior defenseman and captain Sara Carslon (Hutchinson, Minn.) was presented the Hockey East Sportsmanship Award. Carlson, in her first season as a defenseman, recorded four goals and 15 assists for 19 points to rank second on the team – first among defensemen – in assists and fourth overall in points. And in 36 games, she committed a mere six minor penalties for a total of 12 penalty minutes.
- The end of the 2015-16 season marked the end of careers for seven UNH seniors –Haley Breedlove (Plano, Texas), captain Sara Carlson (Hutchinson, Minn.), Nicoline Jensen (Rodovre, Denmark), alternate captain Heather Kashman (Edmonton, Alberta), Margo Lund (St. Paul, Minn.), Brittney Redlick (Biggar, Saskatchewan) and Vaattovaara.

- The UNH men's soccer team fell in the America East quarterfinals by a score of 1-0 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County on Nov. 7 to end the Wildcats' season.
- Junior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway) earned the America East Midfielder of the Year title as well as an All-Conference First Team spot while Fazal Nabi (Portland, Maine), Lukas Goerigk (Berlin, Germany) and Andrew Chaput (Manchester, N.H.) each earned All-Conference Second Team honors.
- Rookie Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) was selected to the All-Rookie Team.

WOMEN'S SOCCER (6-9-4 overall, 4-4-0 America East)
- The UNH women's soccer team saw its 2015 season come to an end in an America East quarterfinal game at the University of Maine on Oct. 29. The Wildcats and Black Bears battled to a 1-1 tie through the end of overtime, but Maine advanced 4-3 on penalty kicks at Mahaney Diamond.
- Senior Caroline Murray (New Canaan, Conn.) was named America East Midfielder of the Year and sophomore Brooke Murphy (Stow, Mass.) was named the America East Striker of the Year.
- Murphy and Murray were joined by senior captain Kirsten O'Neil (Hampton, N.H.) on the All-Conference First Team.
- Freshman Gaby Dorsey (Hubertus, Wis.) was selected to the All-Rookie Team.
- Murray and junior goalkeeper Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) were voted to the All-Academic Team.

SWIMMING & DIVING (5-1 overall, 3-0 America East)
- The UNH swimming and diving team sent six swimmers to compete at the ECAC Championships, which were held Feb. 26-28 at the U.S. Naval Academy, and took eighth place.
- Sophomore Liza Baykova (Moscow, Russia) broke three records over the weekend, one in the 50-yard free (23.00 seconds), one in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.21), which was also a NCAA-B time. Her third record came in the 100-yard free with a time of 49.48 seconds, also a NCAA-B cut time.
- Also competing was Jessica Harper (Eastmeadow, Mass.), Brittany Driscoll (Wallingford, Conn.), Brittany Moffatt (Cedar Falls, Iowa), Linnea Lemerise (Brentwood, N.H.) and Kaitlin Cahill (Troy, N.Y.).

VOLLEYBALL (21-9 overall, 11-1 America East)
- The UNH volleyball team saw its 2015 season end Dec. 3 with a straight-set loss to 11th-ranked University of Florida in an NCAA first round match. The Wildcats advanced to the NCAAs for the third consecutive year by winning the America East tournament title for the third straight year.
- The set scores vs. the Gators were 25-15, 25-9, 25-15.
- New Hampshire's 21 wins is the most in program history since the 2003 season (23-12, 12-2 AE).
- The end of the 2015 season also marks the end of UNH volleyball careers for seniors Abby Brinkman (Brecksville, Ohio), Brenna Buckwalter (Evergreen, Colo.), Cassidy Croci (Sylvania, Ohio), Tori Forrest (Powder Springs, Ga.), Maggie Kenney (Merrimack, N.H.) and Madison Lightfoot (Clarkston, Mich.). The senior class propelled the Wildcats to a 76-47 record during its tenure in Durham.
- UNH earned the automatic berth into the NCAAs by capturing the America East Championship title on its home court for the third consecutive year. The Wildcats trumped Binghmaton, 3-1, in the semifinals and defeated University at Albany, 3-1, in the Nov. 21 title match.
- It marked the first-time in program history that UNH won the conference title three straight seasons.
- The America East bestowed UNH 13 postseason awards with juniors Demi Muses (Orangevale, Calif.) and Keelin Severtson (Delray Beach, Fla.) taking home the league's co-Player of the Year and Setter of the Year respectively.
- Forrest garnered First Team and All-Academic Team honors for the third straight season. Muses and Severtson joined Forrest on the All-Conference First Team. Lightfoot notched her second consecutive appearance on the All-Conference Second Team. Alongside Forrest, Croci and Brinkman merited All-Academic Team mentions. Following the conclusion of the tournament Forrest was named the America East Championships' Most Outstanding Player. Joining Forrest on the All-Championship Team were Lightfoot and Croci.
- Lightfoot finished her UNH career as the all-time leader in digs, tallying 1,657 in her four years.
- Forrest concluded her collegiate career second all-time in total attacks (4,129), fifth all-time in kills (1,264) and eighth in digs (1,054).
