THE DIFFERENCE

- UMass Lowell finished with a .091 hitting percentage and that included .000 in Set 1.
SET 1
- Trailing 3-2, UNH reeled off eight consecutive points to take a 10-3 lead. The River Hawks committed five errors during that spurt, which came on the service of Emily Tanski (Plymouth, Mich.).
- UMass Lowell still trailed by seven points, 16-9, when the visitors inched closer on a UNH attack error and back-to-back Haley Shimon kills.
- The Wildcats led 16-12 when Tanski's kill ignited an 8-0 run that pushed the score to set point. Hannah Petke (Rancho Santo Margarita, Calif.) recorded two kills during the decisive spurt and Severtson recorded one service ace.
- Olhava then ended Set 1 with a kill, her second of the match; she also had three blocks in the opening set.
SET 2
- UNH rolled out to a 6-1 lead on a series of River Hawks' errors, prompting the visitors to call a timeout.
- UMass Lowell rallied to tie the score, 6-6, but the 'Cats responded with a kill by Olhava, a solo block by Muses and a Muses' kill to regain the lead, 9-6, and the River Hawks never pulled even the rest of the set.
- UML closed within 11-10, but consecutive kills by Muses and Olhava sparked a 4-0 run that included an ace by Muses and gave the 'Cats a 15-10 advantage.
- UNH was ahead 20-14 and moved closer to closing out the set when kills by Kennedi Smith (The Woodlands, Texas) and Muses and a Courtney Bowman (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) service ace pushed the lead to 23-14.
- UMass Lowell fought off one set point, but then Muses sent the ball down to the court for her fourth kill of the set and give New Hampshire a 2-0 lead in the match.
SET 3
- There were 10 ties and six lead changes; in comparison, there were five ties and four lead changes in the first two sets combined.
- After UNH won the first point, the River Hawks held leads of 2-1, 3-2, 5-3 and 6-5 before the Wildcats went back in front (7-6) on a Muses kill and Smith's service ace.
- UML went on a 4-1 run to reestablish a two-point cushion, 10-8, and then surged ahead 13-9.
- The 'Cats won four straight points to level the score and force the River Hawks to call time out. Smith's kill out of the break gave UNH a 14-13 lead.
- UMass Lowell surged back ahead, 15-14, before Petke tallied a kill and solo block as part of a 3-0 run that gave UNH a 17-15 lead.
- After a New Hampshire attack error, Muses and Smith registered consecutive kills to extend the margin to 20-17 and the River Hawks never got closer than two points the rest of the way.
- Kills by Olhava accounted for UNH's last two points to end the set and match.
'CAT NIPS
- This marked UNH's seventh straight-set victory of the season; three of those wins have been in America East conference play.
