DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire Athletics Development department hosted an athletic alumni pre-game reception on October 1 at Wildcat Stadium prior to the Homecoming UNH football game vs. William & Mary.
The reception, which was located in Wildcat Village just outside gate A of Wildcat Stadium, was open to all former UNH student-athletes. The reception featured a spread of food provided by UNH Dining as well as a cash bar. Nearly 200 former Wildcats and current coaches joined the reception to celebrate their Wildcat history.
"The tent had an awesome atmosphere," said Jasmin Washington, a 2011 graduate and former track athlete. "It was great to come back and see former teammates, but also mingle with other Wildcats that I didn't compete with.
"Being a Wildcat means a lot to me. My experiences at UNH, including my coaches and teammates, helped create a foundation for my future, and for that I could not be more thankful."
The reception featured appearances from fourteen different athletic teams at UNH. "We really want to use this reception as an opportunity to provide a place for all athletic alumni to be able to come back and reconnect with their teammates, coaches and their University," said Diane Metcalf, Director of Athletics Development. "We are excited to continue this homecoming tradition for years to come."
The evening was capped off by a 21-12 victory by the football team over William & Mary in front of a record setting crowd of 21,943 at Wildcat Stadium.
