Stuffing Stockings: A Gift of Wildcat Athletics
12/17/2015 4:30:00 PM | Tickets, UNH Insider
With thanks to Jennifer Lee, UNH class of 1992 and her fun little project "Frozen" - perhaps you've heard of it? Â
Â
"Do you want to build a snowman?
Come on let's go and play.
Â
Do you want to build a snowman?
It doesn't have to have to be a snowman."
Oh wait. That's impossible in this so-far snowless season.
Â
But you can buy a Frozen Flex Pack. And make plans to attend the women's Frozen Four.
Â
It's that time of year again.
Â
The shopping days before Christmas are down to a precious few, the pressure is building just a bit. In the spirit of a giving season we're here to lend a hand with a couple of gift ideas – especially for the difficult-to-buy-for Wildcat fan - from the UNH Athletics Department.
Â
They are one size fits all – just right as stocking stuffers – and they carry a common theme: They are the gift of entertainment, enthusiasm and excitement. In short, they are the gift of fun.
Â
The fun of watching the UNH men's hockey team play Maine for the fourth time in December in the only Wildcat hockey game this season to be played in Manchester.
Â
The fun of watching what damage the same rejuvenated Wildcats can do when they get back to Hockey East league play in January with home games against Lowell and Northeastern and then a pair of contests against the University of Notre Dame.
Â
The fun of watching the best women's college hockey players in the country compete at the Whittemore Center in March for the 2016 NCAA championship.
Â
Or look a little further down the road.
Â
The new multi-purpose Wildcat Stadium continues to rise where once stood the visitors' stands in Cowell Stadium. The Club Lounge and suites, TV production areas and coaches' booths are beginning to take shape. Â
Â
The stadium christening is scheduled for Sept. 10, 2016 – the first home football game in the facility – against Holy Cross.
Â
Football season ticket packages for 2016 and beyond in the new stadium will be on sale shortly.
Â
In the meantime make sure the Wildcat football fans in your family, and fans wanting to get in on the ground floor of a new area in UNH football, are in position to jump on the opportunity: For a $25 per seat deposit, fans can get on the priority list for season tickets. Seat selection will be done in the months ahead.
Â
Thinking along a slightly grander scale? Here's a truly unique one-of-a-kind gift possibility with a pricetag that may be somewhat negotiable: How about celebrating that special someone, or someones, by naming a new stadium after them?
Â
Or perhaps you'd prefer your donation go to calling it "UNH Insider Stadium." Has a certain ring, don't you think? But, aw shucks, you shouldn't have.
Â
We've slalomed a little off course. Â
Â
Ready to start – or maybe even wrap up – your shopping?
Â
Without further adieu, here are details about Christmas gift-giving the Wildcat way.
Â
The men's hockey team is on a four-game unbeaten stretch and returns to play after its Christmas break with a game against the University of Maine in Portland at the Cross Insurance Arena on Tuesday, Dec. 29.
Â

Â
The NCAA Women's Frozen Four is coming to the Whittemore Center for the third time, and first since 2005, in March. Semifinal games will be played on Friday, March 18 and the championship game is on Sunday, March 20. Tickets are available by CLICKING HERE.
Â
And the stadium name game?
Â
Give Diane Metcalf in Athletics Development (603-862-8641) a call and not to worry: We'll keep it a Christmas secret between you and us.
