Volleyball Takes 3-0 Loss Against UAlbany in Annual Dig Pink Match

DURHAM, N.H. -- The University of New Hampshire volleyball team's three-match unbeaten streak was snapped in a 3-0 loss to the University at Albany in the annual dig pink match Sunday afternoon at Lundholm Gymnasium.
The set scores were 18-25, 23-25 and 23-25 in the America East contest.
New Hampshire drops its record to 9-11 overall and 2-1 in conference play. UAlbany improves to 4-11, 2-1.
Junior outside hitter Tori Forrest (Powder Springs, Ga.) posted her sixth double-double of the season with 16 kills and 10 digs. Forrest also registered a team-high .295 attack percentage. Classmate Cassidy Croci (Sylvania, Ohio) contributed eight kills and racked up three blocks. Senior setter Taylor Dunklau (Mukwonago, Wis.) orchestrated the offense, dishing out 24 assists. Junior defensive specialist Madison Lightfoot (Clarkston, Mich.) posted 15 digs.
UAlbany continued its momentum in the third frame with a 5-0 run out of the gate. However, the Wildcats clawed back to trail 10-9 in the early goings. The Wildcats and Great Danes fought neck-and-neck throughout the stanza, featuring 15 tied scores and seven lead changes. UAlbany landed a kill to take a 23-21 edge as New Hampshire called for a timeout. UNH pulled within a point at 24-23, facing match point. However, the Great Danes closed out with a match with a kill to give the Wildcats their first conference loss of the season.
New Hampshire returns to the court Sunday, Oct. 12 (1 p.m.) in America East action at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. The Wildcats return to Lundholm Gymnasium on Friday, Oct. 24 (7 p.m.) against UMBC.
