NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Hampshire men's and women's cross country teams are both ranked in the Northeast Region Poll that was released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The men's squad, slated in the top-15 for the first time this season, is ranked 15th overall after a second-place finish at the America East Pre-Conference meet on Friday at the College Woods course. UNH finished with 50 points to finish behind Boston University (35) but ahead of Albany (80), Maine (83) and Vermont (103). Senior Daniel DeCrescenzo (New Milford, Conn.) led the Wildcats with a second-place finish as he completed the 8-kilometer course in a time of 26:11.37. Senior Cory Sinotte (Manchester, N.H.) added a third-place finish, crossing the finish line in a time of 26:14.16.
The women's side remains in the top-15 for the third-straight week and moves to the 14th spot after a third-place finish at the Pre-Conference meet. The Wildcats finished with 75 points to finish behind Vermont (39) and Albany (60) but ahead of Boston University (80) and Maine (98). Freshman Laura Rose Donegan (Melbourne, Australia) placed second overall in the first collegiate race of her career as she completed the 6-kilometer course in a time of 17:05.95.
Both teams return to action on Friday, Sept. 21 when they visit Maine at 3 p.m.
