Women’s Cross Country Captures UAlbany Invitational

ALBANY, N.Y. – Junior Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) finished first overall and three other Wildcats finished in the top four as the University of New Hampshire women's cross country team captured first place for the second-straight year at the 45th Annual UAlbany Invitational Saturday afternoon.

The defending champion Wildcats finished with 29 points to beat out 22 other teams while Middlebury College placed second with 64 points and host Albany finished third with 91 points.

Maguire finished the 5,000-meter course in a time of 17:22.

Senior Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.), sophomore Elise Beattie (Woodstock, Ill.) and junior Darcy James (Exeter, N.H.) placed second, third and fourth, respectively, in times of 17:43, 17:46 and 17:47.

Freshman Marina Slavin (Durham, N.H.) also placed inside the top-20 as she crossed the finish line in a time of 18:36 to finish 19th overall.

Freshman Chelsey Serrano (Manchester, N.H.) and senior Elizabeth Campbell (Colonia, N.J.) finished 21st and 26th, respectively, at 18:38 and 18:42.

The Wildcats next return to the course on Oct. 29 when they return to UAlbany for the America East Championships.
