DURHAM, N.H. – Senior Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.) and junior Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) finished second and third, respectively, to lead the University of New Hampshire women's cross country team to a second place performance in Saturday's season opening tri-meet against Providence College and the University of Maine at the College Woods course.
The Wildcats finished with a team total of 41 points, placing ahead of Maine (65) but behind Providence (23).
Fitzpatrick crossed the finish line in a time of 17:23 for second place, while Maguire ran the course in a time of 17:29 for a third-place showing.
Freshman Megan Ross (Franklin, Mass.) and sophomore Cayla Pellegrini (Derry, N.H.) also finished inside the top-10. Ross crossed the line in a time 19:16 for ninth place, while Pellegrini was not far behind in 10th with a time of 19:18.
Sophomore Lindsey Judge (Essex, Vt.) also turned in a top-20 finish for the home squad, as she placed 19th with a 20:34.
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Sept. 10 when they compete at the Dartmouth Invitational at 11:10 a.m.
