WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PLACES NINTH AT NCAA NORTHEAST REGIONAL

MADISON, Conn. – Senior Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.) placed 15th overall to lead the University of New Hampshire women's cross country team to a ninth-place finish at the 39-team NCAA Northeast Regional at Hammonasset Park.

The Wildcats finished with 273 points and were the second highest America East finisher, trailing only Stony Brook University, which placed second with 83 points. Syracuse University won the meet with 78 points.

Fitzpatrick finished the six-kilometer course in a time of 20 minutes, 34 seconds.

Classmate Allison Letourneau (Kingston, Nova Scotia) placed 40th in a time of 21:18.0, while fellow senior Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine) was 51st in a time of 21:28.7.

Graduate student Clare Egan (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished 71st as she crossed the finish line at 21:45.5.

Freshman Elise Beattie (Woodstock, Ill.) rounded out the Wildcat scorers as she placed 96th in the 247-runner field in a time of 22:05.8.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Nov. 20 at the ECAC Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y.
