RESULTS

STONY BROOK, N.Y.
– Senior Cathy Parker (Westford, Mass.) finished second overall to lead the University of New Hampshire women’s cross country team to a third-place finish at the America East Championships Saturday at Stony Brook University.

Parker, who was named to the America East All-Conference team for her top-10 finish, completed the 5,008 meter course in a time of 17 minutes, 38.8 seconds.

The Wildcats’ 73 points were not enough to overcome defending champion Boston University (66) and host Stony Brook (38).

Sophomore Laura LaPlante (Peterborough, N.H.) was the only other Wildcat to finish in the top 20 of the 77-runner field. She placed 15th in a time of 18:36.6.

Freshman Mackenzie Ferreira (Westerly, R.I.), sophomore Courtney Hamer (Andover, Mass.) and freshman Allisson Letourneau (Kingston, Nova Scotia) finished 20th through 22nd in times of 19:00.7, 19:02.4 and 19:05.2, respectively.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Nov. 10 at the NCAA Regionals at Franklin Park in Boston.
