WEST POINT, N.Y.Justine Elliott (Mitchellville, Md.) and Lauren Laquerre (Concord, N.H.) each registered 10 kills to lift the University of New Hampshire volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson University in its final match at the Army Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats went 2-1 on the weekend with a 3-1 win over St. John's and a 3-0 loss to the host Black Knights on Friday. The set scores against FDU were 25-17, 25-18 and 25-23.

In addition to Elliott and Laquerre, Amy Keding (Northbrook, Ill.) added seven kills, while Taylor Dressing (Gillette, N.J.) and Morgan Thatcher (Brockton, Mass.) each added six kills. Sara Heldman (Greenwood, Ind.) paced the New Hampshire offensive attack with 35 assists, while defensively Jayde Huxtable (St. Charles, Ill.) had a match-high 21 digs.

In the first set, the teams were tied at 5-5 before a 7-2 UNH run made it 12-7. The Knights cut it to 16-13, but the 'Cats responded with a 9-4 spurt to capture the first set 25-17. In the second set, UNH and FDU were even at 4-4 before five-straight points made it 9-4. New Hampshire extended the lead to 17-9 on the strength of an 8-5 run. FDU would cut it to 21-16, but UNH rallied for the 25-18 win. The third set was the closest of the three. UNH held a 7-4 edge until the Knights used a 4-1 run to tie it at 8-8. Neither team held a lead of more than two the rest of the set. Fairleigh Dickinson led it 21-19 before the Wildcats scored six of the matches' final eight points to earn the sweep.

UNH returns to action when it travels to the Harvard Invitation Sept. 3-4. The Wildcats open with Boston College on Friday, Sept. 3 at 5:30 p.m. The 'Cats open the home portion of their 2010 schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 7 (7 p.m.) against non-conference foe Northeastern.
