VOLLEYBALL RAISES NEARLY $1500 AT SIXTH-ANNUAL "VOLLEY 4 HOLLY" TOURNAMENT
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire
women's volleyball team played host to another successful
“Volley 4 Holly” event on Tuesday, May 11. The
sixth-annual “Volley 4 Holly” tournament raised close
to $1,500 for the Holly Young Fund, while a 24 teams competed
including representatives from 13 varsity programs and
intra-department teams participated.
The event was created to raise
money for Wildcat volleyball player Holly Young, who passed away on
Jan. 24, 2008 after a courageous three-year battle with Ewing's
Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. The funds raised at the event
will go to a scholarship setup in Young's name at
Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, the Jimmy Fund and cancer
research.
Teams made a minimum donation of $50, while several sponsors helped made the event even more successful.
For those who would still like to make a contribution to the tournament or the Holly Young Fund, please contact Associate Head Coach Stacy Barnett at 603-862-4664.
