2008 ~ An America East All-Conference second team
selection, Bates played in 104 games and 28 matches, including 27
match starts… Registered a team-high 345 kills, a total
which ranked fourth in the America East Conference… Finished
the season with an average of 3.32 kills per game... Tallied the
second-most digs on the roster with 245, with an average of 2.36
per game… Also notched 51 blocks and 24 assists…
Tallied double-digit kills 19 times… Had five 20-plus kill
efforts… Compiled a season-high 21 kills twice, once against
Harvard on Sept. 30 and the other against UMBC on Nov. 2…
Registered double-digit digs 13 times, including a season-high 16
against rival Maine on Oct. 24… Bates earned America East
Player of Week honors on Sept. 15 for her performance in the
previous week when she totaled 56 kills, including 20 kills against
Rhode Island on Sept. 12… Bates was selected to the America
East All-Academic team for the third-straight season and was a
member of the America East Academic Honor Roll.2007 ~ Bates, a member of the America East All Academic team, was an America East All-Conference First Team honoree and America East Player of the Week (Nov. 12). .. An all-rookie selection a year ago, Bates was a true triple threat for the Wildcats ranking in the top 10 in the conference in kills (6th - 3.55 kpg) and aces (10th - 0.38 apg) and was among the team leaders in blocks and hitting percentage... Bates recorded 348 kills, which ranked second on the ‘Cats’ roster, while also adding 36 aces, 262 digs and 68 blocks... Bates had a career-high 28 kills on Oct. 5 against Albany and had the team’s best kill marks for 3- and 4-game matches with 20 kills on Nov. 11 against Albany and 20 kills in a 3-0 win over Southern Methodist on Sept. 15... She had a career-high six blocks on Aug. 24 at Colgate and supassed a career-high with four service aces on Oct. 14 against Hartford... Bates, an America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll (3.5+ GPA), earned the Judy Ray Academic Excellence Award, given annually to the Wildcat with the highest GPA on the team.
2006 ~ Bates played in 25 matches and 87 games in her freshman season starting in 20 matches...She started the season at middle blocker and made an immediate impact transitioning to right side hitter for the majority of the conference schedule...Bates recorded 145 kills, which ranked fourth on the ‘Cats’ roster, while also adding 28 aces, 126 digs and 53 blocks...She was one of a league-record four Wildcats named to the America East All-Rookie Team...Had three kills in her first collegiate apperance vs. St. John’s on Aug. 25 at the Fairfield Tournament...Notched a career-high 17 kills on Oct. 13 at UMBC and a career-high 17 digs on two occasions; Oct. 28 at Albany and Nov. 11 vs. Binghamton...Had 10+ kills in eight of the final 11 matches of the season...Bates recorded 27 kills in the first 14 matches of the season and finished the year with 118 kills in her final 11 matches...Bates earned America East Rookie of the Week honors on Oct. 16...She was one of eight Wildcats named to the America East Academic Honor Roll and was one of three ‘Cats to earn the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll distinction.
Before UNH ~ Bates played for Maureen Thorne at Bishop Carroll High School and played club for Canuck Stuff Volleyball Club and Maximum Beach Club, where her team finished third at Nationals in 2004… She was selected to the Alberta Team 2004, Canada Prospects Team 2005, and chosen for the Elite Canadian Beach Camp 2006.
