DURHAM, N.H. –The University of New Hampshire volleyball team fell to non-conference foe Northeastern University, 3-0, on Tuesday night at Lundholm Gymnasium. The match scores were 25-15, 25-14, and 25-17. UNH moves to 3-12, while the Huskies are now 6-7.
Freshman Lauren Laquerre (Concord, N.H.) led the Wildcats offensively with six kills and a block. Pauline Acres (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and Lindsay Fogarty (Pleasanton, Calif.) each added five kills, while setter Sara Heldman (Greenwood, Ind.) had a match-high 19 assists.
In the first set, Northeastern used a match-high 14 kills to earn the win. The teams were tied 10-10 before NU went on a 12-3 run to build a comfortable lead and never looked back. In the second set, the Huskies had just one attack error and hit at a .526 clip. NU stormed out to a 16-8 lead and held a healthy lead throughout in an 11-point win. In the final set the Wildcats battled tough early. Holding a slim 15-14 lead, the Huskies closed out the match on a 10-3 run.
UNH returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 30 against Harvard. Match time is 7 p.m. at Lundholm Gymnasium.
