Junior Kirsten Bates (Calgary, Alberta) had a team-high 11 kills and added eight digs and two blocks as the University of New Hampshire volleyball team captured a 3-1 win over America East foe Hartford, on Saturday afternoon. The match scores were 25-18, 16-25, 25-18 and 25-11. UNH improves to 7-20, 4-7 in America East, while the Hawks are now 6-23, 0-10 AE.

In addition to Bates, Pauline Acres (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and Lindsay Fogarty (Pleasanton, Calif.) each recorded nine kills and a block, while Justine Elliott (Mitchellville, Md.) had a team-high five blocks for the Wildcats. Defensively, senior Lucia Bridova (Bratislava, Slovakia) led the team with 11 digs. Setter Kate Uitti (Pinckney, Mich.) dished out 24 assists and had six digs.

In the first set, the Wildcats jumped out to an 11-5 lead. Hartford answered with a 7-4 run to cut it to 15-12, but would get no closer as the ‘Cats earned the seven-point set victory. UNH hit at a match-best .417 clip and had 13 kills. The second set was back-and-forth early. With the teams tied 4-4, the Hawks went on a 13-4 run to make it 17-8. Hartford went on for the nine-point win as it hit at a .389 percentage and had 16 kills. UNH rallied and captured the next two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-11. In the third set, the Wildcats took advantage of 11 Hawk attack errors and had eight kills. In the final set, the score was 6-6 until UNH scored 10 of the next 13 points to build a 16-9 lead and would close out the match scoring nine of the final 11 points for the four-set victory.

UNH concluded the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 15 (5 p.m.) when it plays host to Binghamton University. The match is senior day when the program will take time to honor the accomplishments of Bridova, the lone senior of the Wildcats’ roster.
