Junior middle blocker Lindsay Fogarty (Pleasanton, Calif.) had a team-high 10 kills including the final two points of the match and added four blocks to lift the University of New Hampshire volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Dartmouth College on Tuesday night at Leede Arena. The Wildcats captured their second-straight win and third in their last five matches as they improve to 3-8 overall. The Big Green is now 2-3 overall. The set scores were 25-20, 25-23 and 28-26.

In addition to Fogarty offensively, Justine Elliott (Mitchellville, Md.) had nine kills, three blocks and a .438 hitting percentage, while Laura Yegge (Redlands, Calif.) and Lauren Laquerre (Concord, N.H.) each added six kills. Sophomore setter Sara Heldman (Greenwood, Ind.) had a 32 assists, while defensively Alyse Lahti (Pepper Pike, Ohio) had 15 digs.

In the first set UNH went out to a 10-6 lead, but Dartmouth answered with an 8-2 run to make it 14-12. The teams were tied 15-15 before the Wildcats scored seven of the next eight points to build a 22-16 cushion and went on to earn the five-point win. In the second set, UNH jumped out to a 13-6 lead and held that lead at 22-15 before the Big Green, once again, answered by tallying eight of the next 10 points to cut it to 24-23. Dartmouth had a service error to give UNH the 25-23 win. In the convincing set, the teams were close throughout with never team holding a large lead. UNH held a slim 22-20 lead before Dartmouth tied it at 22-22. The teams traded points until Fogarty ended the set and match with back-to-back kills for the 28-26 win.

The Wildcats return to action this weekend at the Penn State Invitational. UNH will open on Friday against St. Louis, play the top-ranked Nittany Lions (10 a.m.) and Yale (4 p.m.) on Saturday. UNH’s next home game is Tuesday, Sept. 23, when they play host to Northeastern. Match time is 7 p.m. at Lundholm Gymnasium.
