HIRSCHINGER BEING INDUCTED INTO UTAH STATE HALL OF FAME
LOGAN, Utah – Head Coach Jill Hirschinger of the University of New Hampshire volleyball team is being inducted into the Utah State University Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame. The dinner and induction ceremony for the Hall of Fame’s sixth class is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 8.

Hirschinger will be inducted along with the rest of the 1978 National Championship volleyball team. The 1978 Aggies became the first team in Utah State history to capture a national championship by defeating UCLA in four games in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Utah State notched a 42-4-2 record during the season, including 26 straight wins to start the year.  USU then concluded its season with 12 straight wins, including its victory in the AIAW (Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) championship match against the Bruins.  

Hirschinger, who is the all-time winningest coach in UNHprogram history, recently captured her 600th win overall and 200th as head coach of the Wildcats.

Hirschinger, a four-time America East Coach of the Year, enters her 13th season as head coach of the University of New Hampshire volleyball program in 2008 and it marks her 30th season as a head volleyball coach.
