    ORONO, Maine –The University of New Hampshire volleyball team was defeated by the University of Maine, 3-0, in the America East opener on Friday night at Memorial Gym. The game scores were 30-28, 31-29 and 30-25.

Senior outside hitter Sarah Rehn (Oceanside, Calif.) once again led the ‘Cats with a team-high 13 kills, to go along with a team-high 11 digs and five service aces on the night.
    Junior outside hitter Emmy Blouin (St. Albert, Alberta) ranked second on UNH’s roster with 10 kills, while sophomore setter Lucia Bridova (Bratislava, Slovakia) tallied notched 19 assists quarterbacking the Wildcat offensive attack. Starting libero Alyse Lahti (Pepper Pike, Ohio) totaled 10 digs in the losing cause against the Black Bears.
    Freshman middle blocker Lindsay Fogarty (Pleasanton, Calif.) continued her strong play with six blocks and a career-high four aces on the night.
    The Wildcats drop to 4-11, 0-1 in America East play, while Maine improves 3-11, 1-0 America East.
    The Wildcat volleyball team returns to action with conference play on Sunday, Oct. 1 at Stony Brook. Game time is 12 p.m. at the SBU Sports Complex.
