DURHAM, N.H. – Junior outside hitter Emmy Blouin (St. Albert, Alberta) totaled a career-high 27 kills with 13 digs and a .404 hitting percentage to lead the University of New Hampshire volleyball team to a 3-2 win over University at Albany on Sunday afternoon. The game scores were 30-26, 25-30, 30-26, 30-28 and 15-13.

    Freshman outside hitter Kirsten Bates (Calgary, Alberta) had another impressive showing at her new position with 16 kills, a .333 hitting percentage to go along with nine digs. Bates has now recorded 47 kills in her last three matches for the ‘Cats, while Blouin has posted 57 kills during that time. Senior captain Sarah Rehn (Oceanside, Calif.) also registered 15 kills and a match-high 24 digs in the victory over the Great Danes.
    Freshman setter Kate Uitti (Pinckney, Mich.) amassed a career-best 56 assists running UNH’s offense. Uitti scored the 14th point of Game 5 to break the 13-13 tie on a nice backhanded tip off a dig by Bates.
    Freshman Lindsey Loescher (Crystal Lake, Ill.) tallied 18 digs in her second match as UNH’s starting libero filling in for Alyse Lahti (Pepper Pike, Ohio). Loescher helped the Wildcats to their second conference win with a service ace to close out the match.
    UNH as a team notched 69 kills and a .240 hitting percentage. The ‘Cats totaled 19 kills in Game 3 and 11 kills and a .348 hitting percentage in the final game.
    The Wildcat volleyball team (7-13 overall, 2-3 America East) returns to action at home for two consecutive matches on Friday, Oct. 20 against Hartford. Match time at Lundholm Gym is 7 p.m. UNH then plays again at Lundholm Gym on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. vs. Stony Brook.
