Wildcat volleyball inks Lucia Bridova

DURHAM, N.H.-- University of New Hampshire head volleyball coach Jill Hirschinger announced on Thursday afternoon the signing of setter Lucia Bridova (Bratislava, Slovakia) to a national letter of intent.

Bridova (5 ft.-9) has played in the highest junior league in the Czech Republic for the last five years, including playing for the B-Team of Sokol Frydek-Mistek. She also won regional championships with her Gymnasium Frydek-Mistek high school team for the past two seasons.

In 2003-2004 as co-captain, she helped her junior team to a fourth-place finish in the Moravian subdivision (Under-19) and in the 2002-2003 season, the team took a third-place finish in the Moravian subdivision (Under-17).

Bridova was also named to the Bratislava All-Star Team two seasons in a row.

"Lucy brings a wealth of experience to our program. The European system allows more opportunities to play throughout the year. She is mature and will fit in well with our program. She comes from a volleyball family where her father is coaching in the Czech Republic and her sister Katarina played at the University of Maryland and the College of Charleston," said coach Hirschinger.
