DURHAM, N.H.-- The New Hampshire Wildcats put up a valiant effort, but could not contain the offense of the Northeastern Huskies, as the visitors swept the home team, 30-20, 30-21, and 30-25, Saturday afternoon at Lundholm Gymnasium.
After struggling on offense in the first two games, the Wildcats performed better in the third game, notching a hitting percentage of .171. For the match, Toni Barnas (Cary, Ill./Cary Grove), Natasha Otte (Plymouth, N.H./Plymouth Regional), and Erin Walker (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) each earned seven kills to lead UNH.
Kira Batura led the Huskies with ten kills and 14 digs. Whitney Turner contributed seven kills, five digs, and three blocks, while Ashley Reeves earned five kills with only one error in 11 chances.
UNH's defense was led by Walker, who recorded a match-high 15 digs. The two liberos also reached double figures in digs, with Northeastern's Ashley Adamczyk notching 13 digs and Jen Williams (Mountain View, Calif/St. Francis) of UNH continuing to increase the all-time UNH record for digs with ten on the evening.
New Hampshire (6-16, 2-5 America East) will start the second half of the conference schedule on Tuesday with the finale of the three-match homestand against Maine. Tuesday's match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will be the last home match for the Wildcats until the middle of November.
