KINGSTON, R.I.-- The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team lost to Rutgers University, 3-0 in the its final match of the Rhode Island Invitational at Keaney Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The game scores were 22-30, 31-33 and 23-30.
With the loss, the Wildcats drop to 3-7 on the season, while Rutgers, who took home the Rhode Island Invitational Championship, improved its mark to 6-3 this year.
Junior outside hitter Erin Walker (Fulton, N.Y.) led the 'Cat attack and was named to the URI All-Tournament Team for her efforts over the weekend. Walker posted a match-high 21 kills to go along with nine digs and a .341 hitting percentage.
Freshman middle hitter Jess Compton (Woodridge, Ill.) tallied a career-high eight kills, while sophomore outside hitter Sarah Rehn (Oceanside, Calif.) finished the match with six kills and a match-high 11 digs.
Sophomore setter Katie Weidner (Warrenville, Ill.) assisted the UNH attack with 41 assists in the loss to the Scarlet Knights.
The Wildcat volleyball team returns to action on Friday, Sept. 24th at the Fairield Invitational to play the host Stags at 7 p.m.
