DURHAM, N.H. -- The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team will host its annual spring tournament on Saturday, April 24 at Lundholm Gymnasium in conjunction with the annual team awards banquet. The team banquet will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Squamscott Room of Holloway Commons. The six-member Class of 2003 will be honored and team captains will be announced for the upcoming 2004 season.
The teams that will participate in the tournament are Boston College, Dartmouth and the UNH Alumni team.
In addition to the NCAA volleyball teams, the graduating 2003 UNH volleyball senior class will join other former 'Cats such as Beth Cole and Katie Jentes to form a UNH Alumni team that will play other competing teams. Each match will be two games to 25 points using rally scoring point system.
UNH starts play at 10 a.m. vs. intrastate rival Dartmouth College and will continue play at 10:45 a.m. vs. the Boston College Eagles.
The 'Cats conclude the tournament with the UNH Alumni at 12:15 p.m. The playoffs begin at 1 p.m. and the championship match with start at 1:40 p.m. The Wildcats are coming off a 23-12 season (12-2 America East), winning the America East regular-season and tournament title for the second straight season. The Wildcats played No. 1 ranked Southern California in their third appearance in the NCAA Tournament. UNH posted 20+ wins for the sixth time in the last seven years and the 2003 graduating senior class leaves UNH with a 87-43 record in four seasons at UNH.
