BOSTON-- The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team was defeated by Harvard University, 3-2 on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the Malkin Athletic Center. The game scores were 26-30, 30-16, 22-30, 30-27, 12-15.

Junior outside hitter Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) and senior co-captain Lauren Knight (Centerville, Mass.) led the way for the Wildcats on Tuesday night. Coler posted a season-high 27 kills, hit for a .339 hitting percentage and chipped in with a team-high 13 digs. Knight registered 11 kills, 12 digs and a match-high eight blocks in the losing cause. Middle hitters Amy Dai (Calgary, Alb.) and Karen Harrington (Windham, N.H.) both recorded career-high's with 11 and 10 kills respectively.

The 'Cats rallied to pull the match even at one game as the team hit an impressive .314 with 14 kills on 35 attempts in the second game.

The 'Cats return to action at home on Friday, Sept. 20 vs. Montana State in the UNH Tournament at Lundholm Gym. Match time is 7 p.m.

UNH's third annual "Pack the Arena Day" is scheduled for Sept. 21 vs. North Carolina State at 12:30p.m. The Wildcat volleyball team is attempting to break the America East volleyball attendance record for a single-match, which is currently held by UNH with 1,949 fans vs. Hofstra University on Oct. 22, 2000. This match will be one of four matches of the day as part of the UNH Tournament and will feature national caliber volleyball programs such as Kent State, N.C. State and Montana State.

The first 1,500 fans to enter Lundholm Gymnasium will receive a coupon for a free Domino's pizza. In addition, fans in attendance will have an opportunity to win great prizes, including a Sprint PCS cell phone and UNH men's hockey tickets.
