DURHAM, N.H. - For the third time in seven weeks, sophomore Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) of the University of New Hampshire volleyball team was named America East Player of the Week on Monday.
It was the second this month that Coler, an outside hitter, has been feted as the conference's most outstanding player, winning the same award on Oct. 8. Coler led the Wildcats to a 2-0 record in conference play this last weekend with wins over the University of Hartford (3-0) and Stony Brook University (3-1).
In two matches, Coler posted 29 kills, 20 digs and a .314 hitting percentage with just seven errors on 70 attack attempts. Coler had an impressive match against Stony Brook on Sunday with 19 kills and 11 digs, committing just four errors on 47 attempts for a .319 hitting percentage. Coler also played well in a 3-0 sweep of Hartford on Saturday, picking up 10 kills in just 23 attack attempts to go along with nine digs.
The 'Cats (12-7, 5-2 America East), third in the America East standings behind undefeated Towson University (22-1, 7-0 AE) and second-place Northeastern University (16-8, 6-1 AE), return to action Oct. 24 at the University of Maine.
