New Hampshire Volleyball falls to Towson, 3-1

DURHAM, N.H. ----- The University of New Hampshire volleyball team fought off five match points in the fourth game on Saturday but were unable to force a fifth game, as Towson University beat the Wildcats 3-1 at Lundholm Gymnasium.

Down two games to one and trailing 29-26 in the fourth game, the Wildcats ripped off four straight points, including sophomore Erin Ludwig’s (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) service ace to make it 30-29. However, Towson fought off two game points of its own and eventually finished off the match, 35-33, on a kill by Liz Goubeaux.

The scores of the match went 16-30, 36-3430-23, 35-33. UNH falls to 9-7 (2-2 America East), while Towson improves to 18-1 (4-0 AE).

Sophomore Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) and Freshman Bonnie Wilson (Moraga, Calif.) each had 17 kills for the Wildcats. Coler finished with 12 digs, while Wilson picked up 10. Jordann Tomasek had a game-high 20 kills for the Tigers.

Ludwig had 45 assists, six blocks, seven digs and six kills on the afternoon. Towson setter Andrea LaBlanc had 61 assist and 14 digs.

UNH returns to action on Sunday when it plays host to Drexel University at Lundholm Gymnasium (12 p.m.) .
