Wildcat Volleyball Defeats Northeastern

DURHAM, N.H.-- The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team defeated Northeastern University, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon at Cabot Gym. The game scores were 9-15, 15-8, 15-6, 15-6.

With the win the 'Cats clinch the second seed in the America East tournament at 11-2 and now have a overall record of 22-11. The Wildcats will host a America East semi-final match vs. No. 3 seed Northeastern University at Lundholm Gymnasium on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. With the loss, Northeastern drops to 19-11 and 9-4 in America East play.

The Wildcats received strong performances from senior co-captain Leisha Campbell (Oswego, N.Y.) who tallied a season-high 18 kills, while hitting at a .529 clip. Campbell also chipped in with 14 digs and two total blocks. Junior middle hitter Jennifer Walker (Fulton, N.Y.) notched 15 kills and also posted a match-high seven total blocks. Senior co-captain Bethany Cole (Canterbury, N.H.) and junior outside hitter Jillian Ross (Naperville, Ill.) each recorded 12 kills apiece. Junior setter Stacy Barnett (Crystal Lake, Ill.) had another solid outing with 51 assists and a match-high 15 digs in the win for the 'Cats.

The Wildcats return to action at home in their final regular season match against the University of Hartford on Senior Day at 1 p.m. at Lundholm Gym.
