TOWSON, Md..-- The University of New Hampshire volleyball team defeated Towson University, 3-0 Sunday afternoon at the Towson Center.The game scores were 15-1, 15-7, 15-4.
With the win the Wildcats improve their record to 20-12 overall and 9-2 in America East play, while Towson drops to 11-18 overall and 4-7 in America East action. The 'Cat attack was led by junior outside hitter Jillian Ross (Naperville, Ill.) who recorded a match-high 11 kills and 13 digs. Junior hitter Kim Mirts-Poen (Essex, Iowa) also had a solid outing, tallying 10 kills and 10 digs. Junior setter Stacy Barnett (Crystal Lake, Ill.) notched 36 assists and seven digs, quarterbacking the 'Cats offense to victory.
The Wildcats halt their three match losing streak with their ninth conference win of the year and are currently in second place in the America East standings. Hofstra University has sole posession of first place at 9-1, while Northeastern is right behind New Hampshire at 8-3.
UNH returns to action at home on Wednesday Nov. 10 against the University of Maine at 7 p.m. in Lundholm Gymnasium.
