UNH Volleyball Players Earn Honors

DURHAM, N.H.- Two University of New Hampshire volleyball players were honored by the America East Conference Monday.

Senior middle hitter Bethany Cole (Canterbury, N.H.) was named the America East Player of the Week and junior setter Stacy Barnett (Crystal Lake, Ill.) was named Setter of the Week following UNH's 3-0 week which featured wins against Boston College and conference foes Hofstra and Drexel.

Cole helped guide the 'Cats back from a two-game deficit against Hofstra to lead UNH to the 3-2 win. She finished the match with a team-high 20 kills. For the week, Cole finished with 44 kills and a .357 hitting percentage to go along with three assists, an ace and eight blocks.

Barnett was once again the key setter for the Wildcats all week and compiled a total of 122 assists in the three matches, including 62 in the five-game match against Hofstra. Barnett is currently second on the UNH stat sheet with 180 digs and is second in the entire conference with 744 assists for a per game average of 11.81.

UNH is currently 12-8 on the year and atop the America East standings with an unblemished 2-0 record. The Wildcats return to action Saturday with a home conference match against Towson University at Lundholm Gymnasium beginning at 1 p.m.
