GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior distance runner Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) competed in the 10,000 meter run at the NCAA East Regional, held at North Carolina A&T State on Thursday night.
Of the 47 runners, Maguire paced her way to a 20th place finish in the preliminary round. She crossed the line to a time of 34:53.03, but missed the overall cut of the top-12 runners.
Maguire, the Jim Urquhart Student-Athlete of the Year and individual America East Cross Country Champion, also ran the event in the 2012 NCAA East Regional. There, she ran to a time of 35:51.11, improving her time nearly one minute over the past 12 months. The Massachusetts native placed third overall at the America East Championships in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:28.26.
At the IC4A/ECAC DI Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Maguire ran to a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meter run. She crossed the line with a time of 16:27.63, a new UNH record. She finished ahead of 21 other runners.
