AMHERST, Mass. - The University of New Hampshire women's track and field team finished in seventh place at the UMass Pre-Conference meet Saturday with a team score of 55. The Minutewomen won the event with a score of 164.50.
Virginia Lavallee (Kingston, N.H.) was the runner-up in the 100m hurdles at UMass with a time of 15.11 seconds. Claire Ruff (Boston, Mass.) recorded a second-place finish in the 3,000m steelplechase by crossing the finish line in 11:49.43. Keyla Salazar (Nashua, N.H.) finished third in the hammer throw at a distance of 47.42m. Bacall Liset (Dover, N.H.) was third in that event at 41.32m. Jessica Salley (Andover, Mass.) took fifth place in the high jump with a mark of 1.66m. Melanie Frazier (Bridgewater, Mass.) placed fifth in the long jump at 5.52m. Stephanie Walsh (Penacook, N.H.) had the fifth-best throw in the discus with a distance of 38.17m. Andrea Turtletaub (Mansfield, Mass.) recorded the fifth-best mark in the javelin with a throw of 39.15m.
New Hampshire will hit the road to travel to Vestal, N.Y., for the America East Championships, held at Binghamton University. The two-day competition will start May 4 at 9 a.m.
