JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – All three Wildcats posted top-25 finishes as the University of New Hampshire women's outdoor track & field team competed at the NCAA East Preliminary on Thursday at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.
Senior Laura Stern (Shirley, Mass.) placed 21 out of 48 competitors in the javelin with a toss of 137-4 (41.86m). Stern, who bounced back from consecutive injury-plagued seasons for an impressive senior campaign, was second in the event at both the America East and New England Championships.
In the 1,500 meters, graduate student Allison Letourneau (Kingston, Nova Scotia) placed 23rd in the 48-runner field in a time of 4:25.87, nearly missing the cut for Sunday's quarterfinal round. Letourneau put together an outstanding year, setting seven school records between the indoor and outdoor seasons.
In the final event of the day, junior Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) finished 25th out of 48 runners in the 10,000 meters, crossing the finish line in a time of 35:55.11. This marked the second-straight NCAA Outdoor East Regional qualification for Maguire after she competed in the 10,000 meters last season.
