Track and Field Wraps Up Action at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – Senior Mike Simon (Durham, Conn.) captured an individual title in the javelin as the University of New Hampshire track and field teams wrapped up competition at the third and final day of the prestigious Penn Relays on Saturday.

Simon placed first in the 31-thrower field of the College Division of the javelin with an IC4A-qualifying toss of 64.50m.

On the track, the tandem of senior Joshua Kearns (Ridgefield, Conn.), graduate student Tyler Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska), freshman Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) and junior Jake McDougle (Walpole, N.H.) teamed up to place 17th in the College Division of the 4x800m relay, crossing the finish line in a time of 7:38.77.

On the women's side, the team of seniors Kaitlin Kwiecien (Hampstead, N.H.), Catherine Perrella (Bedford, N.H.) and Allison Letourneau (Kingston, Nova Scotia) and sophomore Darcy James (Exeter, N.H.) placed eighth in the College Division of the 4x800m relay with a time of 8:58.98.

On Friday, graduate student Paul DeTurk (Durham, N.H.) placed seventh in the championship hammer throw with an IC4A-qualifying toss of 58.16m.

Sophomore Matthew Guarente (Saugus, Mass.) tied for 10th place in the eastern high jump, clearing a height of 1.96m.

Juniors William Godfrey (Merrimack, N.H.) and Jake McDougle (Walpole, N.H.) and freshmen Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) and Jacob Critelli (Southbury, Conn.) teamed up for the heats of the 4x400 relay and ran the event in 3:24.94.  

On the women's side, senior Camille Quarles (Derry, N.H.) took fifth in the eastern triple jump with an ECAC-qualifying mark of 12.23m.

On Thursday, senior Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine) and junior Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) placed fourth and 13th, respectively in the 10,000m championship in times of 35:11.19 and 35:30.33.

The Wildcats return to action on May 7-8 for the America East Outdoor Championships.
