Women's Swimming & Diving Claims Third Place at AE Championships After Day One

BOSTON — The University of New Hampshire women's swimming and diving team finished day one of the 2012 America East Swimming and Diving Championships in third place with 64 points.

New Hampshire opened the day with a third-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay, timing in at seven minutes and 28.45 seconds. Shelli Reed (Hollister, Calif.), Lauren McCandless (Macungie, Pa.), Jenna Bull (Woodstock, New Brunswick) and Sydney Tribou (Orlando, Fla.) all swam a leg in the event.

The Wildcats also finished in third in the 200-yard medley relay with Oneida Cooper (Johannesburg, South Africa), Jessica Little (Barrie, Ontario), McCandless and Reed teaming up to finish the event in 1:45.32.

UNH returns to action for day two of the America East Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday, Feb. 23, beginning with preliminaries (10 a.m.) at Boston University's Aquatic Center.
