Perrault and Pelletier Sweep Weekly America East Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University of New Hampshire senior Amy Perrault (Kirkland Lake, Ontario) garnered Swimmer of the Week honors and sophomore Ellen Pelletier (West Hartford, Conn.) was selected as the Diver of the Week by the America East conference Tuesday afternoon.

The pair takes home the honors after leading the UNH women's swimming and diving team to a 126-90 victory over the University of Maine on Feb. 4 at Swasey Pool. The win was UNH's second in as many meets, as the Wildcats rounded out the regular season with a 7-1 record. The 'Cats finished the day claiming first place in every event, while also notching the top two spots in six events.

Perrault led the way for the Wildcats, notching a first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke in a pool record time of two minutes and 1.26 seconds. She also claimed first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.91. Perrault rounded out the meet swimming a leg in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the 'Cats touched down at 1:40.82.

Pelletier was equally impressive, notching the top spot in the one-meter dive with a score of 251.62. Additionally, the sophomore also posted a score of 257.10 in the three-meter dive.

The Wildcats will begin the America East Championships on Thursday, Feb. 17. All events will take place at Germantown Indoor Swim Center in Boyds, Md.
