PHOENIX, Ariz.- The University of New Hampshire swimming and diving team had the 18th best Division I Academic All-American swim team in the nation, according to statistics compiled by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The Wildcats, with a combined grade point average of 3.420, were the only America East team to receive a top-20 ranking.
Four juniors on the 2007 the swimming and diving squad were selected to the America East All-Academic team: Shana Dege (Lockport, N.Y.) with a 3.02 GPA; Kary Goodman (S. Windham, Maine) (3.18); Deanna Petchonka (Ridgefield, Conn.) (3.38); and Christine Tartaglia (Brewster, N.Y.) (3.31).
In addition, 16 of the 22 student-athletes on UNH’s women’s swimming and diving roster were named to the Academic Honor Roll, and 11 of them were part of the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
