UNH WOMEN’S SWIMMING AND DIVING SINKS BOSTON UNIVERSITY, 142.5-98.5

Boston, Mass. - The University of New Hampshire women's swim and dive team won their first meet of the year against America East member Boston University Saturday afternoon at BU's Fitness and Recreation Center.

Brittany Daly (Brightwaters, N.Y.) was the victor in three events. She was first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10 minutes, 22.79 seconds. In the 200 freestyle Daly edged out BU's Christina Ruggiero (1:57.97), touching the wall at 1:55.97. Daly finished the afternoon with a first place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:07.64. Katrina Maloney (Dover, N.H.) was second at 5:12.21.

Sarah Guyett (Yorktown Heights, N.Y), Christine Tartaglia (Brewster, N.Y), Deanna Petchonka (Ridgefield, CT) and Ana Dowell (Phoenix, AZ) together outpaced BU's swimmers to win the 400 medley relay at 4:00.05.

Catherine McDonough (Denville, N.J.) was edged out her own teammate, Petchonka (25.34), to win the 50 freestyle at 25.31.

In the 100 freestyle it was Shannon Daly (Brightwaters, N.Y.) claiming victory, clocking in at 54.06. Dowell (54.76) and Liz McKinley (Amherst, N.H.) (56.55) were close behind to close out the top spots for New Hampshire. Daly was also first to the wall in the 200 breaststroke at 5:07.64.

New Hampshire's next meet will be home against Colgate University November 12 at 4 p.m.
