UMBC DEFEATS NEW HAMPSHIRE WOMEN’S SWIMMING, 141-102

DURHAM, N.H. -- The University of New Hampshire women's swimming and diving team dropped its first meet of the year and its home opener to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, 141-102.

Kary Goodman (South Windham, ME), Christine Tartaglia (Brewster, N.Y), Deanna Petchonka (Ridgefield, CT) and Catie McDonough (Denville, N.J.) came out strong winning the first event for New Hampshire in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3 minutes, 59.07 seconds.

Brittany Daly (Brightwaters, N.Y.) continued the momentum, finishing first in the 1000 freestyle, touching the wall at 10:26.44. Caitlin Hamer (Andover, Mass) was third in the event at 10:52.94.

Shannon Daly (Brightwaters, N.Y.) won a first place finish in the 100 freestyle, clocking in at 52.58 seconds. Ana Dowell (Phoenix, AZ) was third in the event (54.05) while Kate Haigney (Montclaire, N.J.) placed fifth for the 'Cats (57.75). Daly had another first place finish in the pool in the 200 breaststroke at 2:22.01, ahead of UMBC's Christina Cantwell (2:24.02)
