UNH Swimmer Lague Earns America East Honors

BOSTON -- University of New Hampshire swimmer Melissa Lague (Salem, N.H.) was named Women's Swimming Performer of the Week by America East. The award was announced Tuesday, January 18.

Lague led the Wildcats as they defeated visiting Northeastern University 170-130 and remained perfect on the season at 7-0.

She set two Swasey Pool records in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 56.76 seconds and in the 200 yard backstroke at 2:02.83.

Lague continued her day with a first-place finish in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:07.34. She also played a part in the 200 yard medley relay first-place finish with a time of 1:48.36.

This is Lague's second time winning the weekly award this season, as she was honored Nov. 2 after her performance in the season's opening meet against Boston College.

The undefeated Wildcats will try to keep their winning streak alive as they travel to Rhode Island on Jan. 22 to challenge URI.
