UNH women’s swimming placed third at Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Shannon Daly (Brightwaters, N.Y.) won two events to lead the University of New Hampshire women’s swimming and diving team to a third-place finish at last weekend’s Bucknell Invitational.

The Wildcats finished the two-day event with 657.5 points to finish behind Bucknell University (1,104 points) and the University of Delaware (848.5).

Daly took first place in the 200-yard breastroke with a time of 2 minutes, 22.50 seconds and recorded the fastest time in the 200 freestyle. She also placed second in the 100 breast. Daly competed in four relay events and led the Wildcats to second-place finishes in both the 200 free relay and 400 free relay, as well as third-place finishes in the 200 medley and 400 medley relays.

Melissa Lague (Salem, N.H.) was the other UNH swimmer to win an event, as she was the first athlete to touch the wall in the 100 backstroke. In addition to teaming with Daly in all four relays, Lague placed second in the 200 individual medley.

Ashley Fish (Fairview, Pa.) was another top Wildcat performer with the third-best efforts in the 100 butterfly and 200 fly. She also swam in both medley relays.

Kristen Nardozzi (St. Petersburg, Fla.) competed in the 400 free relay and had third-place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 400 IM. Christine Harvey (Plaistow, N.H.) also placed third in her individual event, the 100 breast, and swam a leg in the 200 free, 200 medley and 400 medley relays.

The UNH swim team returns to action Jan. 19 (1 p.m.) at Northeastern University.
