CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Senior Stephanie Gilkenson (Cranston, R.I.), a midfielder for the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, was honored as the America East Co-Player of the Week by the conference Monday afternoon.
Her impressive performances throughout the week were instrumental in helping UNH earn a spot in the America East Championships for the 11th straight year, as the Wildcats clinched the No. 4 seed with their win over Maine. Her offensive spark has been a welcome addition, as she has notched a point in three of the last four games. During that span the Wildcats are 2-1-1 and have remained unbeaten in three straight games.
Currently she leads the Wildcats with eight points on three goals and two assists this season. She also ranks second on the squad in shots with 23, posting 14 on goal attempts.
Gilkenson and the Wildcats return to action when they host the quarterfinal round of the America East Championships, taking on fifth-seeded Binghamton on Thursday, Oct. 27 (1 p.m.) at Bremner Field.
