SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore goalkeeper Erica Correa (Cheshire, Conn.) registered seven saves, earning her second shutout of the season, as the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team played Bryant University to a 0-0 double overtime tie Sunday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium.
With the tie the Wildcats move to 1-6-1 on the season, while the Bulldogs adjust to 3-3-2.
New Hampshire outshot Bryant 3-1 in the second overtime, putting two shots on goal, but couldn't find the back of the net in the closing moments of the contest. Both teams registered four shots combined in both overtimes, but the Bulldogs held a slight 20-19 edge in shots for the game.
Monique LaMotte (Tampa, Fla.) led the 'Cats with four shots. Stephanie Gilkenson (Cranston, R.I.), Brooke Duchaney (Hampton Falls, N.H.) and Kelsi O'Neil (Hampton, N.H.) were also active offensively, posting three shots each. Gilkenson and Duchaney led the squad with two shots on goal apiece.
Correa registered her second-highest save total of the season in the contest, tallying five-plus saves for the third straight game.
The Wildcats are back in action Wednesday, Sept. 21 (7 p.m.) when they take on Holy Cross at Bremner Field.
