CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University of New Hampshire women's soccer forward Chelsea Kuss (Warners, N.Y.) was named America East Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 3, the conference announced Monday.
Kuss registered four points during the week to help the Wildcats earn a win and a tie. Against Brown on Sept. 29, Kuss assisted on her team's first goal by senior Carole LeBlanc (Grand-Digue, New Brunswick), which tied the game, 1-1, in the 53rd minute. The sophomore then lifted the Wildcats to the 2-2 when she netted the equalizer in the 68th minute. Kuss also earned the game-winning assist versus UMBC on Oct. 3 when she hooked up with LeBlanc again just 90 seconds into the match to help the 'Cats earn the 2-0 victory, their first in conference play. Kuss is tied for the team lead with eight points on two goals and four assists, and ranks first and seventh in the league in assists and points, respectively. The rookie Wildcat now has scored at least one point in four of her last six matches, and five of her last nine.
The Wildcats return to action Thursday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. when they travel to take on the University at Albany at Varsity Field. The next home game for the 'Cats is Thursday, Oct. 14 at 3:30 p.m. when they play host to Stony Brook University at Lewis Fields.
