CORREA EARNS WEEKLY CONFERENCE HONOR FOR WOMEN'S SOCCER
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University of New Hampshire freshman goalkeeper Erica Correa (Cheshire, Conn.) was named America East Rookie of the Week for the week ending Aug. 29, the conference announced Monday.
Correa receives her first honor after finishing her opening week at the collegiate level undefeated. The rookie went 1-0-2, while allowing just three goals and making 16 saves for a 0.87 goals against average.
After keeping her team in the game long enough for them to earn a 1-1 tie in the opener versus Rhode Island on Aug. 24, Correa earned her first win in the opener of the TD Bank Classic when she stopped five shots to sink La Salle, 2-1. Correa then made eight saves to preserve a 1-1 tie with Rider and help lead the Wildcats to their first TD Bank Classic title since 2001. Correa garnered Defensive MVP honors for having the highest total number of saves, and was also selected to the All-Tournament Team.
Correa and the Wildcats return to action Friday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. when they take on the College of the Holy Cross at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The next home game for the 'Cats is Sunday, Sept. 5 at 1 p.m. when they play host to Harvard University at Lewis Fields.
