SHEEHAN GARNERS WEEKLY CONFERENCE HONOR FOR WOMEN'S SOCCER

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The America East conference announced Monday that senior forward Michelle Sheehan (Belmont, Mass.), a captain on the University of New Hampshire women’s soccer team, was named America East Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 12.

Sheehan netted a pair of goals during the week, giving UNH an insurance cushion versus UMBC when she made it 2-0, and notching the game-winner against Vermont to complete UNH’s comeback from a 2-0 deficit.

Sheehan now has 10 points on five goals this season and leads the conference in both goals per game (0.71) and points per game (1.43) after missing seven games due to injury.

This marks Sheehan’s first Player of the Week award since Oct. 9, 2007 and is the second award for the Wildcats this season. Junior forward/midfielder Shaunna Kaplan (Framingham, Mass.) also received the honor Sept. 29.

The Wildcats return to action Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. when they hit the road to do battle with Boston University in a rematch of last season’s America East title game. The ‘Cats return to Durham for their final home match Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. when they play host to the University of Hartford on Senior Day.
