Durham, N.H. – University of New Hampshire women’s soccer sophomore forward Michelle Sheehan (Belmont, Mass.) scored the games lone goal in the 54th minute of play to lift the Wildcats past America East member Maryland-Baltimore County on Sunday at Lewis Field.

            After a scoreless first half of play, UNH increased their pressure on offense and in the 54th minute of play senior co-captain Kelly Collins (Bedford, N.H.) delivered a perfect feed to Sheehan from seven-yards out and as a result beat UMBC’s goalkeeper Robin Babaris to score the games only goal. Sheehan recorded her fifth career goal and first of the season. Babaris notched a game-high nine saves in the loss. UNH held the 20-6 advantage in shots along with a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks, keeping the UMBC defense busy.
            UNH goalkeeper Lynn Gugliuzza (Kenmore, N.Y.)posted her third shutout of the season and recorded one save in the victory.
            The Wildcats improve to 3-5-0, 1-0-0, while the Retrievers fall to 3-6-1, 0-1-0 on the season. UNH returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 28) when they play host to America East foe Hartford at 7:00 p.m. on Bremner Field.
