BOSTON -- Senior forward Chiara Best (Rose Valley, Pa.) of the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team was selected Player of the Week by the America East conference on Monday. She also received the award Oct. 4.
Best scored three of the team's five goals to propel the Wildcats to a 2-0-0 week with conference wins against the University of Vermont (2-1) and University of Hartford (3-1). She recorded an assist and also broke a 1-1 tie with the game-winning goal vs. Vermont. Best broke the school record for fastest consecutive goals (individual and team) by scoring 12 seconds apart against Hartford, which turned UNH's 1-0 lead into a three-goal advantage.
Best leads the Wildcats in both goals (11) and points (24) this season. She is ranked third in America East in both of those statistics at 1.50 points per game and 0.69 goals per game.
On New Hampshire's career leaderboard, Best is No. 3 in both goals (34) and points (81). Diane McLoughlin (1987-90) is the Wildcat record holder with 38 goals and 87 points.
UNH returns to action Oct. 24 (2:30 p.m.) at the University of Maine.
