BOSTON -- Adriana Gonzalez-Medina (Bainbridge Island, Wash.), a freshman forward on the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, was honored as Rookie of the Week by the America East conference Monday afternoon.
Gonzalez-Medina scored two goals - both game-winners - last week to lead UNH to victory against Providence College (Sept. 24) and the University of Rhode Island (Sept. 26). She scored her first collegiate goal at PC to break a 2-2 tie in the 73rd minute and it proved to be the game-winning goal in a 4-2 win. Gonzalez-Medina broke a scoreless tie vs. URI in the 84th minute and it was the only goal of the game in the Wildcats' 1-0 victory.
Gonzalez-Medina has played in nine matches (with two starts) this season and has recorded six points, which is tied for second on the team, on two goals and two assists. She recorded her first collegiate point in the season opener with an assist vs. Lafayette College.
UNH (4-4-2) concludes the regular season with nine consecutive America East matches beginning Oct. 1 at home vs. Binghamton University. Game time at Lewis Fields is 3:30 p.m.
